Composite Bonding
Composite Bonding in Turkey
Composite bonding is used in dentistry to describe permanently attaching dental materials to your teeth using dental adhesives and a high intensity curing light.
Tooth bonding or composite bonding uses a special tooth-coloured resin which is applied to the tooth then hardened using a special light. This bonds the resin to the tooth either to restore it or to improve the appearance of the tooth.
What is Composite Bonding?
Dentists use tooth-coloured composites (white or natural-looking materials) that they have in their offices to fill cavities, repair chips or cracks, close gaps between your teeth and build up the worn-down edges of teeth. Dentists place the materials in or on the teeth where needed.
For what conditions is composite bonding considered?
Composite bonding is an option that can be considered to:
- Repair decayed teeth (composite resins are used to fill cavities)
- Repair chipped or cracked teeth
- Improve the appearance of discoloured teeth
- Close spaces between teeth
- Make teeth look longer
- Change the shape of teeth
- Use as a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings
- Protect a portion of the tooth’s root that has been exposed when gums recede
Whom Is Composite Bonding Right For?
Composite resin bonding isn’t for everyone. If your smile is crooked as the result of an over- or under bite, this treatment won’t serve to correct it. Instead, speak with your dentist to determine if more in-depth work is needed like adjusting your bite or any complex chips or gaps in your teeth. Bonding is primarily for those who seek a cosmetic solution for teeth that are otherwise healthy.
Is Composite Bonding Painful?
Not at all. Bonding is painless and often performed without the use of an anaesthetic since very little tooth removal is necessary.
Is Bonding a Radical Procedure?
No. Composite bonding is the most conservative dentistry available today. Unlike Porcelain veneers, composite involves a minimal amount of tooth reduction and in many cases, none at all.
Are Composites Natural Looking?
Yes. Composite bonding is arguably the most natural type of cosmetic dental restoration as long as it is being performed by a dentist who specializes in cosmetic dentistry and has the practical skills required for intricate veneering and tooth sculpting. It is a good idea to ask your dentist to see before and after photographs of some of their previous cases to ensure that you are satisfied with their work.
